Hotness (H) Scale

The scale below has been devised to relate the 'hotness' of spices. The spices in our 'featured spice' section are given a value on this arbitrary scale to illustrate the relative hotness of each. Generally, most spices fall in the middle with only the hottest of Mexican chillies scoring 9 or 10.

10 — Volcanic
.9 — Incendiary
.8 — Fiery
.7 — Burning
.6 — Hot
.5 — Picquant
.4 — Warm
.3 — Medium
.2 — Mild
.1 — Delicate
.0 — Neutral
